The Bloodiest Day On American Soil Since The Civil War

September 11th, 2001 was the bloodiest day on American soil since the Civil War. The United States experienced well planned terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers, Pentagon, and a plane that was headed to Washington D.C, most likely to hit the White House but ended up in a field. A country of nearly three hundred million people nearly came to a pause, meanwhile three thousand people passed away and the nation would be forever changed For some time many people were in shock and afraid to fly. Investigators came to the conclusion that the nation was not prepared for the violence that was planned to have many casualties that was possible and to destroy American symbols of freedom and success. A few of the men lived in the United States for years and even took flying lessons while they were here. Terrorists of the Al-Qaeda group that carried out the attacks shows that they are carefully hand picked and are not afraid to die while causing as much destruction as possible. The horrific events that morning began with Boeing 767, American Airlines flight eleven leaving Boston’s Logan airport with eighty one passengers and Los Angeles bound at seven fifty nine. However, the plane took a sharp turn to the south headed towards the heart of New York City. At eight forty five flight eleven went soaring into the World Trade Centers 110- floors north tower. The upper floors instantly caught on fire. Down below, plane parts, furniture from the offices, bodies, and glass began to fall from above onto the streets devastating the people below. Whenever Flight Eleven hit the north building it was estimated to be carrying ten thousand gallons of fuel causing an uproar of orange fireballs and smoke from the building. Inside the building workers began to panic and find their quickest way out so they would not burn to death. To some escaping their death could mean running down the stairs or to most, jumping out the windows. Many who escaped had serious burns or suffered from smoke inhalation. At this time, many
